Excuses, Excuses
Please excuse the fact that I haven't posted in awhile. My computer has been down and will be for another 2-4 weeks and my blogger phone app has a mean temper. :/ So with that I say enjoy your holiday! Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy and safe New Year! See ya next year!

Fabric and Tulle Flowers
So my goal is to post something everyday and yay!! I made the deadline for today by 6 minutes! :)
I've seen a ton of fabric flowers for sale in boutiques and always thought "I could make that." I've watched a number of how too's on youtube so today I decided to try my hand at them. Unfortunately the only fabric I had was tulle. I tried making one with just tulle but didn't like how it looked so I went on the hunt in my closet. Way waaay in the back was my "one day" shirt that didn't fit and had a small hole in it so I decided to take some scissors to it. I cut circles in various sizes from the shirt and some out of tulle. (You can use any kind of synthetic material) Then burnt the edges so they would curl up. Layer them biggest to smallest and did a few whip stitches to hold them together. Then I hot glued a jewel in the middle and VoilĂ ! A cute little fabric flower. It way easier than I though and now I (and Kensington) can actually wear my "one day" shirt today.

Today's Project is Brought to You by... The Letter K!
When you have a new baby you know you have to buy clothes, diapers, etc. but the fun holiday stuff completely slipped my mind. I was sitting here thinking about taking out the Christmas boxes and thought my baby girl doesn't have a stocking! So since I'm reeaaally crossing my fingers for a sewing machine for Christmas I decided rather than buying her one of those cute but super expensive ones this year I'm gonna embelish a $2.00 chepo from good 'ol Wally World. Next year, if the Mister has taken my countless hints, I will make our whole family "fancy" coordinating ones.
Here's what I came up with. I freehanded the letter K on paper and cut it out then traced and cut it of some scrap felt I had on hand. Then hand-sewed (which I haven't done since home ec!) it onto the front. I still thought it needed a bit more so I attempted a blanket stitch across the top. Again, don't laugh! I haven't hand-stitched in a LONG time. ;) I was going to make a bow for it but I didn't have any coordinating ribbon at the house so I went to Kensington's closet and found this hello kitty hair bow (which I bought from a boutique) that happened to match perfectly! I stitched a loop with some yarn and attached her hair bow to the top. It's that simple and it only cost me $2.50 to make!
